We i have finally started a blog.
To start my blog we have some awesome things to share from swiming with Whale Sharks here on Norfolk to hooking up to a monster 350kg Blue Marlin.
Starting at the Big Blue Marlin, Troy and I decided to take a day to ourselves and go for a troll along the shelf for a Marlin or Tuna. We decided to go South-west and this turned into the right choice. We spotted flocks of Mutton birds everywhere rolling over the water chasing bait fish and what we where hoping for Marlin and Tuna. About 1km away from the birds the Tiagra 50 screamed into action so i grabbed the rod, pushed the drag into strike and held on as the Tiagra screamed even louder. Slowing the boat down and clearing the rest of the gear, we could see the monster jumping about 70m behind the boat. I looked at Troy and said mate its a monster, how we getting that in the boat. He replied I dont know. I settled into the fight and about 30minutes in and some amazing jumps the fish let go of the hooks. A little disappointed but happy we got to fight a monster like that we go the gear back in the water and started trolling again.
Under all these Mutton birds we found Big eye Tuna that where everywhere on the sounder. So down went the Jigs and before we knew it we had Tuna slapping everywhere in the boat. As we where fighting Tuna to our suprize Whale Sharks started swimming up to the side of the boat as Tuna where flying in. Troy and I could resist we just jumped straight in the water to swim with these monsters of the sea. With some photos taken and smiles all round we headed for home. What a day out.
